IVR Translation

By Sabina Wrightsman

Because World Translation Center specializes in writing programming notes for Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems and has the expertise to record flawless prompts, a client sent a script for an IVR system for translation into various languages.

Each IVR script is divided into three segments:

  1. the system prompts for dates, times as well as the basic words needed;
  2. full sentences and
  3. a set of sentences unique for each client.

After the translation is complete, the script is recorded by professional voice talents and set up in the computer with instructions on when to play which prompt so that the recorded pieces then form complete sentences.

Medical Translation and Interpretation: The Scary Truth

As someone who has worked in the medical field for several years, I know that many times physicians rely on family members or bilingual medical staff who are not certified medical interpreters for translation needs. Raising Bilingual Children

By Amanda Scott

There are many reasons why parents may want to raise their children to be bilingual. Navajo Marlin and Nemo

The Navajo tribe is the largest Native American tribe in the United States. The Navajo language is the most spoken ancient tribal language. As with most ancient languages spoken by a minority in a nation with another primary language, it is at risk of extinction.  This is true, in particular, because it is difficult for children to be interested in the language and to speak it in our modern day culture. Many objects or concepts that are familiar today, simply do not have a Navajo word or expression to describe them, as they did not exist when the language was widely spoken. Navajo, as with many ancient languages, has not undergone the developments other languages have.
