The acoustic guitar duo, Rodrigo y Gabriela, are musicians hailing from Mexico City, where they met at the young age of 15. Several years later the two picked up and moved to Ireland to pursue their music careers. They had a humble start, playing covers in pubs throughout Dublin.
It wasn’t until 2006, when their self-titled album “Rodrigo y Gabriela” topped the Irish Album Charts, that they started to gain recognition. The album contained covers of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and Metallica’s “Orion”. The other tracks on the album were original pieces drawn from places they had been and people they had met.
The duo made their American debut in late 2006 with a performance on the Late Show with David Letterman. Rodrigo y Gabriela also have works featured in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Puss in Boots. Most notably they have played at the White House, alongside Beyoncé for president Obama.
The extremely talented duo is currently on tour with dates in Estonia, Austria, Czech Republic, and Spain to name a few. They will also play four California shows, including one at the famed Hollywood Bowl. Tickets for that show will go in sale May 1, 2016
