Canadian singer-songwriter, Béatrice Martin, who goes by the stage name Coeur de Pirate, sings mostly in French. She originally called herself Her Pirate Heart, but translated the name to French when she began writing her songs primarily in French.
Martin released her first self titled album, “Coeur de Pirate”, in 2008. Then in 2009 she gained even more attention when photographer, Francis Vachon, used her song “Ensemble” in a YouTube video that went viral, gaining her recognition on many media outlets.
She has since released several other successful albums, many of which have earned her nominations or awards for her work. In 2015 she released a song, “Carry On”, with both English and French versions, which are featured on her most recent album Roses. Check out the both versions above.
